Home Insurance Quotes - Special Needs Insurance Coverage

Additional Living Expenses Coverage – covers living expenses for you and your family in the event your home becomes uninhabitable (if the reason is covered in your policy). If your home is damaged during a storm, a flood, or other natural disaster, and your policy covers this, your home insurance company must provide normal living expenses for however long your policy allows. This includes food, gas and other expenses, during the time you are forced out of your home.

Scheduled Personal Property Coverage – augments your Personal Property Protection, which covers normal household possessions. The premiums to add this to your regular policy are high, but if you have items that are very important to you, you may consider this a viable option. Many choose this coverage due to the protection they gain wherever they take these important items. For example, it could be that you are into photography and have some very expensive equipment that you want covered. With Scheduled Personal Property coverage you could be using this equipment in your yard or 3,000 miles away and it is still covered! (sounding a little more attractive, isn’t it?) Many items that are regularly included in this type of policy are jewelry, computers, fine art, collectibles, antiques, family heirlooms, and the list goes on.

Building Code Coverage – can be advantageous if your home is damaged and repairs were required to bring it back up to code. If, for example, due to a fire, explosion or anything that could make your home structurally unsound, you may be faced with the added expense of bringing your home into compliance with present building code regulations.

Flood Insurance – while not standard in most home insurance policies, if you live in a flood plain and your home could well suffer damage from rising water you may well consider adding Flood Insurance to your home owner policy when getting home insurance quotes. Yes, it will raise your premium, but rising premiums during rising waters won’t seem nearly so painful when you consider the potential loss you would face financially if your home is flooded.
