Medical Insurance Is Good For The Baby

The cost of having a baby these days is astronomical.  Therefore having medical insurance that covers pregnancy can be cost effective, not to mention in the best interests of the mother and baby.

Generally during the first seven months of pregnancy the mother will see the doctor at least seven times.  If an ultra sound is done to determine the sex of the baby there will be another office visit added, not to mention the cost of the ultrasound, which runs into the thousands of dollars.

At the eighth month the mother will see the doctor every two weeks, then the last month it is stepped up to every week until the baby is born.  This is, of course, barring no complications.  In the event of complications, the cost dramatically goes up.  More testing and sometimes even hospital stays are involved.

It is easy to see why having medical insurance that covers pregnancy is not just a luxury, but can easily be a financial necessity.

Unfortunately, no matter how much a person may want to have medical insurance that covers pregnancy, sometimes the option is just not possible.  In that case, some states offer a health plan for those that meet their financial guidelines.  Or, something may be worked out with the doctor to make monthly payments to him to cover his care during the nine months.  Payments may be arranged with the hospital for the delivery costs.

Babies were coming into this world long before medical insurance and will continue to be born with or without it, however you will have a lot more peace of mind if you can just concentrate on your baby and not uncovered medical expenses!
