Texas Health Insurance Has Gone Through The Change

Things have changed over the years as to Texas health insurance. The state has many laws in place for the benefit of the insured individual.

Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) are more "individual friendly" now than in the past, largely due to the regulations in effect.  If you are a part of a HMO you are entitled to fair treatment as to your medical care, including the ability to see a specialist when needed, proper medications, even scheduled annual exams.

If you are not a part of a group Texas health insurance plan, the option for you is to get individual health insurance quotes.  You will find two options with individual health insurance – state mandated health insurance, and consumer choice health plan.

When getting individual health insurance quotes you will find basic similarities between group of individual plans.  Since your needs are the same the coverage is often quite similar – however, at a more expensive rate.

Group health insurance is obviously the more expensive since it is being bought for many, which allows the expenses for a company to be spread over a large group, rather than just one – you.

If you choose a state mandated plan you are still protected by laws that entitle you to certain basic benefits.

You pay less for a consumer choice plan, but you are given less options in your medical care.
There are some options that are guaranteed by the state, whether you get a state mandated or a consumer choice plan.

Vaccinations for children, certain female care expenses, cancer testing are among the most common example.
